Depending upon how exacting your tastes, you may not be happy with the results from the 2X extender. To me, even when used with Canon's highest IQ primes (200 f2, 300 and 400 f2.8), the quality hit is very noticeable. I have used a 1.4X first II and then III converter often and although I owned a 2X II and tried a 2X III, I have used maybe half To someone coming from 70-300 or 55-250, the 70-200 IS II will be an amazing lens even with the extender. But once you start using the big whites (200 F/2, 300 F/2.8, etc), that's no longer true. So don't let my post discourage you, but that doesn't mean the zoom combination is going to be spectacular. EOS 6D + EF 100-400mmL II + EF 2x III Extender. Shot with the Live View LCD.. Using the EF 2x III Extender on the popular EF 135mm f/2 USM lens, I noticed that the 'negative aspects' of the lens were magnified. Specifically Chromatic Aberration. Note that this is a property of the lens and NOT the Extender. A fellow photographer and I decided to do some tests comparing the recently released Canon EF 2x III Extender with a Canon EF 70-200mm F/2.8L IS USM II vs the Canon 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6L IS USM. The Canon EOS 600D is now officially available in Canada with the new 18-55 kit lens for $999 CAD. These were all shot on the. 7D + EF 2x III + 70-200 USM IS II. Hi, I own a 7D and and a 1DX, shoot sports with the 70-200 L IS USM II and sometimes use the 1.4 extender III. I chose not no purchase the 2X extender because I will lose 2 light stops.
